Hi, welcome to the TC Colony Devlog. The main purpose of the blogs is to go over my thoughts surrounding the map.
So as you can tell, this is a territorial control map. However it is a variant of territorial control, we call it "territorial attack/defend" which essentially removes the middle points and focuses purely on the gameplay of the final points. Those final points are just like on Hydro, where they are separated by their own stages, and each team gets a chance to attack or defend.
The layouts of both stages have been on a gradual slow burn until now. The earliest version of this map comes from "mars manor", a map I made in June 2023 which had the same style. It has been a massive inspiration for how this map has turned out, as some of the displacements and the dome wall, especially the rock walls, are from that original map. The idea of a manor on mars contained inside of a dome lives on in this map on red's stage.
Another big piece of geometry comes from a map I made named "Attrition" which is a big brutalist building with spytech inside of it. I'm genuinely really unsure on how well that stage will play out because of how chokey it is, but I'm hoping it will be positive.
The map is intentionally meant to be fairly difficult, as the defender's spawn point is close to the control point, and the map is also very small, hopefully creating a similar experience to dust bowl last.
During the tests I will be looking out for chokepoints and configurations like the round timer and respawn times to see if those can be improved.
